Move In Update

Thursday, December 19, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We look forward to starting 2020 with you at our new school at 20 Brunel Court! A friendly reminder that the school will open on Monday, January 6, 2020, when students return from Christmas Break. Please note the Bishop Macdonell school office will be closed from December 23, 2019–January 3, 2020.

Please take some time to review this important information before the first day at our new school:

MAYOR TORY TO WELCOME STUDENTS ON JANUARY 6th
Please be advised that Mayor John Tory will be welcoming the students and families of Bishop Macdonell and Jean Lumb elementary schools as they arrive at school on the morning of January 6th, 2020. Mayor Tory will be greeting students with media in attendance. If you do not want your child to participate in any media activities, including being captured on camera, please notify the school office.

STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP
We encourage all families attending our school to travel to/from school via walking, cycling, wheeling (e.g. scooter, mobility device) or by TTC. There is no designated vehicle pick up and drop off area at this school. There is no parking on Brunel Court between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on school days. Please review the attached document that outlines rules for drop-off and pick-up and tips for planning your travel routes to school.

STUDENT ENTRANCE
Bishop Macdonell students will enter/exit our school from the doors located at the northwest side of the school building (please see the attached map). All students are expected to be in the yard by 8:55 a.m. when the entry bell rings.

OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY CENTRE CONSTRUCTION
Please be advised that some construction work on the community centre remains outstanding. Any impacted areas will have fencing in place for the safety of our students. The Canoe Landing community centre, including the child care centre, is estimated to be completed in spring 2020. The City will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Don’t forget! Our school hours will continue to be 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Supervised morning drop-off will begin at 8:45 a.m. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office at 416-393-5462.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on January 6th!

Sincerely,
Bianca Auciello
