Student Services

Marrocco Reads poster The primary goal of the Student Services Department at Bishop Marrocco/Thomas Merton Catholic Secondary School is to facilitate success initiatives for all students. Guidance Counsellors work hard to assist every student to support educational, vocational, and personal development. Counsellors network with teachers, school administrators, youth care workers and parents to support the learning and social/emotional needs of all students. In addition, counsellors connect with community and social agencies, as well as post secondary representatives to provide students with information and opportunities that address their varied needs and interests. Programs and supports are in place for students at all grade levels. Grade nine students are assigned to one Guidance Counsellor to provide students with the attention and support they need with the transition from elementary to high school. Grade ten students have the opportunity to explore personal interests and career options in a Career Studies Course. Students in grades eleven and twelve have access to a variety of co op opportunities, making them aware of job skills needed in the work place.
