The Grade 9 Program
Grade 9 Orientation Program
  • Summer School Transition Program in July prior to entry in Grade 9 in September where students are given the opportunity to work on literacy and numeracy skills while enjoying some time as well doing physical activities. Students earn a secondary school credit upon completion of this program.
  • Special Grade 9 orientation “Navigating Newman” and school tour in late August begins the process of introduction and integration into the school community
  • Camp Tawingo
    • An established overnight leadership initiative run by students, for students
    • Involves all Grade 9 students, more than 30 Grade 12 student leaders and supervision by teachers
    • Two days of outdoor activities and community building

  • Homework Club and Math Clinics offer students additional support during the school year.
