Toronto Catholic District School Board

Visiting Students from Peru
(Posted - February 6th, 2012)

On Saturday February 4th, a group of students from the IB International School Davy College in Cajamarca, Peru arrived in Toronto. Each year Davy College organizes an educational trip for secondary students where they can be immersed in a bilingual culture, share experiences with their peers outside of their own country, learn about the country’s social issues and expand their global awareness.

In 2009-2010, Mariangela Murano, currently at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Scarborough, spent time teaching Humanities in English to grades 6-10 IB and Middle Years Program students at Davy College, and it was during her time in Peru that she suggested the trip to Canada.

The students from Davy College spent the week of February 6th at Blessed Cardinal Newman Secondary School, partnering with students in the Extended French program and shadowing them during their classes and normal school routine.
