Toronto Catholic Family Film Festival (updated May/2016)

The Top 10 finalists of the Toronto Catholic Family Film Festival were invited out for a day of celebration at Cineplex Theatres at Yonge and Dundas.  Our future and present stars were able to watch the top 10 films and celebrate their vision, faith, and ideas on the big screen. The films were followed by the annoucement of the three winning films.
 
Congratulations to the top Toronto Catholic Family Film:

 "One Faith, One School, One Family" by St. Jane Frances Catholic School.

2nd place: "Remembering Family" by Michael Power/St. Joseph CSS
 
3rd place: "No Greater Love" by Francis Libermann CSS

We thank all of our young filmmakers for creating such beautiful films to celebrate our Year of the Family.

Storyline:

Finding a new home within the Catholic Family. This film was the creation of International Students who came to Canada to study at Blessed Cardinal Newman. This film demonstrates the love and caring within our Catholic community that not only supports the new student but provides a new extended family. The students have been in Canada only 4 months to 2 years. They greatly appreciate the support they receive from their new family members.

Storyline:
LEARNING WITHIN OUR CATHOLIC FAMILY International student perspective on what it means to study in a Catholic School. They surveyed Canadian students to gain their perspective on what it means to be a family within the Catholic Community.

Newman's International students made 2 short films on living in a Catholic Community that were entered in the TCFF Festival.


More than 30 submissions were entered in the Toronto Catholic Family Film Festival. Students, staff, parents, trustees, and Catholic school supporters, are encouraged to view as many of the films as you can from now until Monday, March 7th by midnight and vote by ranking each film on a scale of 1-5 in the following three areas:

 

  • Theme/content (consistent with our Year of the Family, reflective of our Catholic values)
  • Technical merit (sound, lighting, videography, editing)
  • Originality (including unique approach to telling the story, use of original music or artwork)
