May 4 Grade 12 ICT SHSM Workshop at George Brown College

On Friday 4th May, Newman's Grade 12 ICT SHSM students went to the George Brown School of Design on Richmond Street in downtown Toronto. During this day long workshop, students attended three different sessions: the first session was in Interactive Design using the Makey Makey technology which has become popular among artists and in multi-media presentations,  followed by a VFX Interactive Workshop---Green Screen and After Effects and Character Design, and ending with a session in Animation with Photoshop.

During this day long workshop, Newman’s ICT SHSM students developed new skills and learned  a lot about design and about George Brown College.

Makey Makey: a combination of hardware and software [in the form of apps] used to create music, games and special effects

VFX: Hollywood & Bollywood films use VFX to produce awesome effects and realistic environments in films. Through visual effects, the artists can make interesting things happen in movies – bomb blasts, natural disasters, flying objects, superpowers, etc. – that are difficult or impossible to shoot in real life.
