Toronto Catholic District School Board

Spring Social 28 May 2018

On a warm May evening the parents of next September's grade 9 class came with their sons and daughters to see the activities offered at Newman, to meet some of their teachers, as well as, to learn about those important Newman events - Camp Tawingo and Scartrek 2018.

Mr Bravo and his culinary students prepared some very tasty sliders, muffins and other baked treats which, if their rate of disappearance was an indicator, were much appreciated by the guests. Art, Athletics, English, Student Council, the DJ's and  Drama were all well represented.

A new twist this year was the website communications group, which involved several grade 9 and 10 students showing parents the school's website and registering them for a weekly email linking them to the website and school activities. The response of parents to the website was quite positive - as another means of keeping parents in touch with Newman.

Ms Bradley, the Newman Summer School Principal registered students in summer school and answered questions. One question raised by parents was " Do students wear uniform in summer school?" Answer - a definite no - come to summer school in comfortable summer wear - although the classes are air conditioned, shorts are recommended.
