The Great Canadian Cardboard Car Competition
For the first time ever, the Toronto Catholic District School Board hosted its very own Board wide Elementary Card Board Car Competition.
Almost 100 elementary students on 18 teams tested their math, creativity, engineering, collaboration and teamwork skills to compete in the weight and distance competitions. The event featured hands-on learning, and focused on the design and engineering aspects of construction. Students built scale car models and tested and redesigned them before committing to full size construction.
In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, teams will be named for the provinces and territories, and other Canadian landmarks.
The day ended with the weight and distance competitions, with the following teams placing in the top three:
1st: Blessed Pope Paul's "The Demolisher"
2nd: St. Bruno's "The Foxmobile"
3rd: St. Raymond's "Fast and Fabulous"
