Toronto Catholic District School Board

January 19, 2015
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Happy New Year and best wishes to all for a blessed 2015.  Although only a few weeks have passed in the new  year, we have already begun preparing for the 2015-2016 academic year.  This preparation involves three stages: registration, course selection, and activity fee collection. Interest in attending Brebeuf College School continues to be high, making it very important for students to adhere to the timelines that have been established for these three processes.
  1. Registration:  Please ensure that your son completes the attached registration form and submits it on the dates below.  Staff will be in the Attendance Office from 10:30 a.m. and noon to process registration.
Registration:     for Grade 10                for Grade 11                for Grade 12
January 26, 2015       January 27, 2015       January 28, 2015
The high demand to attend Brebeuf limits the number of spots available for returning Grade 12 students.  Applications for returning Grade 12 students will be available in Student Services the week after the March break.  The admission decision is based on how many spots are available, the student’s age, academic achievement, attendance, and reasons for returning.  The applications are reviewed at the beginning of April, May and June. Applicants are given either priority acceptance, put on a waiting list, or re-directed. Applications for returning Grade 12 students are due March 31, 2015.
  1. Course Selection:  This year course selection will be done online. Guidance counsellors will visit homeroom classes during February to prepare students for completing their course selections using the My Blueprint program. Course calendars and the Brebeuf Course Selection Companion will be distributed.  It is important that students reflect very carefully on the courses needed to achieve their future goals.  This should be discussed thoroughly with parents/guardians so that the right choices are made at this time.  It is often very difficult for timetable changes to be made later in the process. Once students have decided on the most appropriate courses for next year, they must complete the online course selection process no later than Friday, February 27, 2015.
  2. Activity Fee: All secondary schools in the TCDSB collect a student activity fee as part of the registration process.  This $100 activity fee supplements the school experience by providing resources and supporting activities that help promote our school. Although the fee is voluntary, this payment enhances the overall school experience for all students.  Details of how this fee is disbursed can be viewed on the school web site.  Financial assistance and/or alternative payment arrangements are available for families experiencing financial difficulties. Please contact the head secretary for more information.
The $100 Activity Fee should be paid by cheque during the registration days in January.  Cheques are to be made payable to Brebeuf College School.  Please print your son’s name, his student number, and his homeroom teacher’s name on the back of the cheque.
Thank you for assisting us with these three important steps.  We hope this process will ensure that your son has the best program to both meet his academic needs and to provide for a rewarding school experience next year.
