Joel Ndongmi, a Grade 11 student at Brebeuf, will be one of two new Student Trustees at the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Joel will represent thousands of students at the board level. This is the first time one of our boys has been given the honour.

Aside from being an Honour Roll student, Joel is involved in the Intermediate Jazz Band, serves on the music council, represented Brebeuf at the Sears Drama Festival and is on volleyball team.

Born in Pisa, Italy, he moved to Canada at age 7. His first language is French, and he writes prayers in that language for the morning announcements every Thursday. Joel participated in a number of student leadership events, including the Voices that Challenge Conference 2017 and the TYC Summit-Youth Week.

As a Student Trustee, Joel told the board he wants to “reinforce the communication between student councils and the Board and inform more students about the many leadership opportunities at the Board. He also hopes to promote community involvement through extracurricular activities and encourage environmental awareness through the Ontario EcoSchool Program.”

Congratulations, Joel! We know you will do Brebeuf proud!
