Gifted / Enriched Programming

Greetings and welcome to CCAA’s Gifted/Enriched Program!  I hope that you are excited to explore the various opportunities that will further enhance your son/daughter’s learning experience at school. Our program focus is to continue developing creative thinking skills via Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.) and various programs outside of the classroom.

I.E.P.’s that are developed for students with the “gifted designation" outline specific methodologies that may be implemented to meet the students “where they are at” and to ensure that students reach their personal and academic goals.

Extra-curricular Programs

Extra-curricular programs include a fast growing Model United Nations club where secondary students participate in the TCDSB board wide Catholic Student United Nations Assembly (CSUNA) (November 11 - 13, 2014) and other school-driven UN conferences throughout the TCDSB. Secondary students will also facilitate the 2nd annual CARMUN conference. CARMUN is a Cardinal Carter initiative to provide a Model United Nations Conference experience for Gr. 8 gifted/enriched students.  CARMUN will be held at the Catholic Education Centre on December 10, 2014.
The Duke of Edinburgh club has developed into a strong group of young secondary people who wish to make a difference in the world by participating in this awards program. The Duke of Ed club supports students in attaining some elements of the Bronze  award through school activities.
The Grade 7 and 8 students have the opportunity to participate in both CARMUN as stated above, and the W5H club that operates throughout the school year with the option to participate in a one day local competition held every spring.

Best wishes for a successful year!
