Two Carter Students Now Published Authors

Emma HeatonSteven Serio
In early spring we learned that three Cardinal Carter students had won the local Young Authors Award/Prix jeunes écrivains sponsored by the Toronto Secondary Unit of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association. All local winners had their work submitted at the provincial level for consideration for the top prize, inclusion in a published book that has been distributed to all Catholic schools in Ontario, the Minister of Education, all Catholic school trustees and all MPPs.
We are thrilled to let you know that two Carter students have won the Provincial prize, having had their writing selected from among the many local winners in each category.
Emma Heaton (grade 9) placed first in the category Grade 9/10 Non-Friction (Français) for her essay entitled Mettez-vous dans ma peau: La Paralysie Cérébrale.
Steven Serio (grade 10) placed first in the category Grade 9-10 Play (English) for his play entitled Painted Desire.
You can read these works on line at
Congratulations and Bravo Steven and Emma!
