Carter Grad Running in Memory of Late Father
Alanna McRae has a very personal reason for running more than 500 miles to conquer cancer between August 16th and October 16th. Alanna is doing this in memory of Iain Blair (1943-2014), father of Steve Blair (SMCS), and fellow running enthusiast. Although losing a parent is inevitable, Alanna doesn't think anyone is prepared for it - especially to something like cancer – as she says, it is “an unpredictable, unapologetic disease that does not care how old you are, how healthy you were or how many people you are connected to”. She will complete this challenge by running the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on October 16th where she is gunning for a sub 3:10 finishing time!
Through this process, she hopes to raise $2000 for the Canadian Cancer Society - for which she is an active volunteer. She is documenting her progress on Instagram and Twitter - follow her @lanteetay or @alannamcbanana for daily updates.
