Toronto Catholic District School Board

The Toronto Catholic District School Board acknowledges that a Trustee has distributed an individual notice of motion to end the partnership with Villa Charities upon the completion of public consultation in January 2018, and instead to proceed with the building of Dante Alighieri Academy on property presently owned by the Board. This motion has been filed for consideration at the Board meeting on October 19, 2017.

Although this is a notice of motion, it carries no legal standing and has no power of enforcement or influence. The Board believes the notice of motion is out of order and only reflects the opinion of an individual Trustee. It is the intention of the Board to honour all elements of the current partnership agreement between the TCDSB and Villa Charities.
The Toronto Catholic School Board of Trustees, at its meeting on September 7, 2017, voted to extend the agreement to January 31, 2018 so that the TCDSB and Villa Charities can engage in meaningful and transparent community consultations. Our Board remains firmly committed to comprehensive consultations. Currently, we are conducting a joint RFP process with Villa Charities Inc. to select an independent facilitator to assist with this community consultation process.
A decision will only be made once we have fully evaluated and considered the feedback arising from the community consultation.
Further details regarding the date and location of the community consultation sessions will be provided to the public as soon as they are available.
