Circulating Policy
 
Dante Alighieri Academy has the necessary resources available for students by providing a library equipped with books, magazines, newspapers, journals, databases, electronic educational resources, internet access, and eBooks.
The library is to be used for reading books, for investigating problems, for researching information and for quiet study.

 

Library Hours
 
Monday - Thursday   8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Friday                         8:00 am to 3:30 pm
 
Library Code of Conduct
 
All students must be in full school uniform when entering the library.
 
Upon entering the library, all students are expected to place their bags in the shelves provided.
 
The use of any electronic devices, including cell phones, PEDs, and iPods, are strictly prohibited.
 
Absolutely NO food or drinks allowed in our school library.
 
Out of respect for your fellow students, relative silence should be observed at all times
 
 
Library Resources

 

The library’s collection is indexed in Insignia Library software program, the library’s online catalogue. The collection includes:

  • Non-fiction materials that support all disciplines
  • Fiction materials that include graphic novels, White Pine Award nominated novels and Accelerated Readers

Renewals and Overdues

 

Circulating materials may be renewed once provided that they have not been reserved by another user. Students are responsible for replacing lost or damaged materials.

 
 Library Computers

 

Each student must use his/her own Username and Password to log onto the computers. Students are expected to comply with TCDSB’s Acceptable Use Policy. Activities such as e-mailing or chatting, playing of games, music or videos are not considered acceptable use of library computers. Computer accounts will be disabled for those who fail to comply with these policies.

 
 Research Success @ Your Library: A Guide for Secondary Students

 

This handbook provides a step-by-step approach to the research and inquiry process that is applicable in all subject areas. Printed purchased copies are available in the library.

 

Photocopying and Printing

 

Black and white photocopies and print-outs are $0.10 per page.​
