Reading is a skill that is highly valued at Dante Alighieri Academy and D.E.A.R. is an opportunity for all students, teachers, administrators, and support staff to Drop Everything And Read!
Silent reading has proven to be an effective way of improving reading comprehension. Starting on Monday, September 27th, students will have an opportunity to read for 20 minutes each day. D.E.A.R will taking place during alternating periods throughout the week.

Thursday (Period 4)
Friday (No D.E.A.R.)
Students are encouraged to bring in classroom-appropriate reading material. Students are encouraged to read materials in their language.
Fiction; novels; short stories
Comics
Graphic novels; Manga
Non-fiction e.g. biographies
Magazines e.g. sports, fashion; Macleans, Time
Newspapers e.g. The Metro, Corriere Canades, Correio Portugues, Sol
Manuals e.g. computers
- Religious or spiritual writings
Parents are invited to donate materials that will support the D.E.A.R. program. Donations may be dropped off at the Main Office at the Beatrice campus or with Miss Borowki in the library at the Dante campus.
