Beatrice Campus Visits Canadian Helen Keller Centre

On October 7th, 2014, Grade 9 students at the Beatrice Campus from Ms. Bastone’s ESL & Mr. Tocco’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing classes participated in an interactive presentation by the Canadian Helen Keller Centre (CHKC). The presentation was organized as a follow-up to learning about Hellen Keller and incorporated cross-curricular activities.
The purpose of the presentation was to create awareness on deaf-blindness. Students had an opportunity to learn about how people who are deaf-blind communicate, the role of an intervenor, and services provided for the Deaf-Blind Community. Overall, students enjoyed the presentation and left feeling more aware about the topic.

Congratulations to all students at the Beatrice Campus who took part in this wonderful access initiative. Learn more about the Canadian Helen Keller Centre at
