Witness to Faith Cross Friday April 20, 2012
Students from D’Arcy McGee waited outside in the sunshine in joyful anticipation to receive the Witness to Faith Cross which arrived Friday April 20 from St. Alphonsus. About 150 students from St. Alphonsus appeared, preceded by a blue banner announcing the event, and climbed our stairs to place the cross at our front entrance. A short ceremony of prayer and music followed. The choir led by Miss Clara Mathie sang selections from their repertoire while everyone had a chance to show reverence to the cross, the most significant symbol of our faith. The 8 foot tall wooden cross was made by students at Neil McNeil High School and is to be received by every school in our Board. Grade 1 students held bouquets of white and pink lilies beside the cross as each student came up the stairs to bow to the cross before returning to classes. The cross was placed in our foyer, an excellent of the Resurrection of Our Lord celebrated only a few weeks earlier.
