Me to We Sock Drive for the Good Shepherd Centre

me to we.jpg

“To love God and neighbor is not something abstract, but profoundly concrete: it means seeing in every person and face of the Lord to be served, to serve him concretely.” (Pope Francis)
During the season of Lent, D’Arcy McGee’s Me to We Club collected new men’s socks to donate to the Good Shepherd Centre. The sock drive began on February 19th with a ‘kick-off’ assembly and ended March 5th with Crazy Sock Day. The D’Arcy McGee community donated 750 socks!
The Me to We team worked hard to promote the sock drive through daily announcements and posters. The team also spent some time prior to the sock drive discussing the issue of homelessness including who are the homeless, why do people become homeless and most importantly why we, as Catholics, are called to respond to their needs.
At the end of the sock drive, the Me to We team brought all 750 pairs of socks to the Good Shepherd Centre. At the centre the team was given a tour as well as a presentation about the work of The Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd and its associated ministries.

Thank you to everyone who donated socks!
