Advent Traditions

Advent Wreath December 2
Today we lit the first candle on our beautiful Advent wreath at our morning assembly,

It is the First Week of Advent, and the start of a new Liturgical year (Year C - St. Luke). The tradition of lighting the candle and saying the accompanying prayer will help all students experience Advent in a deeper way. The symbol of Light and the virtue of Charity are now before our minds as we begin to Prepare the Way of the Lord.
Advent Gospel Procession
A new tradition we have started this year is the procession with the Gospel into each lassroom.
The Gospel of each Sunday of Advent will be read and displayed in every classroom for the next 3 weeks, helping students prepare interiorly for the coming of Christ with his gifts of grace at Christmas.

Out of the Cold
The Me to We team helped to present the message of giving to others, so integral to the Christian tradition during Advent. Students were asked to donate warm hats, gloves, socks and shirts to give to the more than 5,000 persons living on the streets of Toronto.
