Toronto Catholic District School Board

NBA player Sim Bhullar pays tribute to Father Henry Carr CSS

On April 23rd, newly-signed NBA player Sim Bhullar returned to his former high school, Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School, to present them with his autographed NBA jersey.

Toronto-born Bhullar joined the Sacramento Kings, making him the first player of Indian descent to play basketball in the NBA. He is grateful for the coaching and support he received while at Father Henry Carr CSS and says the lessons learned during his time there have played a big part in his current success.

“I know Father Henry Carr is a part of this jersey and me," Bhullar said. "Hopefully you guys will hang this up and look at it as a symbol of anything is really possible. As long as you put your heart and mind to it, you can pretty much conquer anything," he said as he presented his autographed jersey to his high school coach Paul Melnik.

Students and staff were excited to welcome Bhullar, along with Raptors superfan Nav Bhatia, who brought with them 12 autographed basketballs for the school. Both spoke about using persistence and discipline to achieve their goals.  Bhullar answered questions and signed autographs to the delight of the students.
