TPS Crimestoppers School of the Year

Father Henry Carr principal Clarence Pitterson
Father Henry Carr was the recipient of the School of The Year Award form Toronto Police Crime Stoppers.  They were given the prestigious award during the Crime Stoppers Dinner which was attended by various dignitaries such as the Mayor John Tory and Chief of Police Mark Saunders. 
 
The award is given to the school that:
  • Has participated in school community engagement identifying safety/prevention strategies concerning elements of crime in their school through social media or community participation of the student body
  • Various types of qualifying issues include but are not limited to:
    Bullying (Cyber Bullying), Relationship Abuse, Drug Abuse/Drug Dealing, Gang Activity, Property Theft, Sexual Assault/Harassment and LGBT or Racial Hate Crimes
Vice Principal Clarence Pitterson was on hand to receive the award on behalf of Father Henry Carr.
 
Father Henry Carr also won for Student of the year, the award was accepted by Daniel Khames.  The winner of this award will have proactively initiated and/or demonstrated leadership by implementing safety/prevention strategies in their school through social media or school community participation of the student body i.e. Hall Watch/Monitoring, Lock It or Lose It initiatives:
  • Bullying (Cyber Bullying), Relationship Abuse, Drug Abuse/Drug Dealing, Gang Activity, Property Theft, Sexual Assault/Harassment and LGBT or Racial Hate Crimes
