Opening and Blessing of New School Addition
Father Serra Catholic School celebrated the blessing of its new school addition on Wednesday, September 26th, 2012 at 5:30 p.m.
In an effort to ensure that students have good places to learn, the Toronto Catholic District School Board has undertaken an ambitious and challenging capital plan, which includes 16 additions to existing elementary schools to address growth of the population.  This is just one of many sod turnings and school openings that have been taking place across the Board in recent months. The Board is pleased to have opportunities to celebrate the rich history of Catholic education in Toronto, and to also celebrate the growth and success of our school system.
The addition at Father Serra includes four classrooms, one seminar room, plus three Early Learning Full-Day Kindergarten classrooms. The addition also features enhanced barrier free accessibility through the provision of barrier free washrooms, new parking area with on-site school bus drop-off and loading zone, dedicated JK/SK exterior play area with hard and soft landscaping, redesigned outdoor playground with well-defined, purpose-built play areas and high performance windows and increased daylight in the classrooms.
