April 24, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians:

I am pleased to inform you that the Toronto Catholic District School Board will be offering French Immersion (FI) for students in Junior and Senior Kindergarten beginning in September 2018 at Holy Name Catholic Elementary School. The decision to implement this program was made at the April 5, 2018 Meeting of the Board.

You are receiving this letter because you reside within the FI program boundary and are eligible to apply for the Kindergarten FI program offered at Holy Name. This FI registration option is open to any student who:
  1. Is currently a JK student who resides within the regional boundary of the newly designated FI location and is attending an elementary school within this boundary;
  2. Is a new registration for JK or SK for the 2018-19 school year and resides within the regional boundary of a newly designated FI location.
If your child is currently a JK student at Holy Name or if your child is a JK student in another school within the FI boundary for Holy Name and are interested in applying to the SK/FI program at Holy Name, you must complete an online application.
Registration for the FI program offered at Holy Name will begin on Monday May 7, 2018 at 10:00 AM EST and will close on Friday May 18, 2018 at 11:59 PM. Please do not apply through the regular Student Online Application for Registration (S.O.A.R.). A unique application has been created for this process and is found on the TCDSB website at We understand that many families will be interested in this new program and every effort will be made to accommodate students where possible. All applications will be processed in accordance with the Admissions Policy and the Elementary French Programming Policy which can be found on the Board’s website at
Important note for children currently enrolled in JK: Your child will have a secured placement in the SK regular English track program at your current school should you choose not to apply to the FI program.

To learn more about this new program a French Immersion information night will be held on May 2, 2018 at 7:00pm at Holy Name.
Should you have any questions about the FI registration process, please contact your school or the Admissions and Placement at (416)222-8282 extension 5320.
