Holy Rosary Catholic School is excited to offer a Morning Meal Program to all students starting on October 5. The program runs Monday through Friday, and a variety of nutritious foods will be served, including fresh fruits and vegetables, grain products, and dairy/alternative products. The Morning Meal Program is nut and peanut free and takes into consideration students’ dietary restrictions. Monthly menus will be posted here on the school website and in the school.
Healthy eating is essential to children’s learning and development. We believe that the Morning Meal Program will encourage students to make smart food choices and support healthy, active living. The universal program provides all students with the opportunity to share a delicious, healthy snack and perhaps try new foods! This program is currently running in over 170 schools in Toronto.
The Morning Meal Program is made possible by the generous support of The Angel Foundation for Learning as well as both City of Toronto and provincial funding. However, we look to families to help support the program in order to be able to provide ongoing sustainability. We will be asking for donations three times a year: October, January and April. We are requesting a minimum contribution of $5.00/child per month. One-time donations of $20.00 or more are eligible for a tax receipt.
We would also like to use this opportunity to recruit volunteers. The success of this program is directly related to volunteer help and parent volunteers are always needed for the program. If you would like to offer your time as a volunteer or for further information on our program, please feel free to contact the school.
Thank you on behalf of all our children for your generous support of this program.
