Transportation Technology 

This course is designed to give students a basic knowledge of the systems used in the automotive industry.  Within this course, several automotive systems are covered with a strong emphasis on safety and participation. Students will receive a 60 /40 split of hands-on training and theory-based classroom instruction. This comprehensive course covers the operation, components, and inspection procedures of the automobile systems. The coursework is designed for students to apply what they've learned to actual shop projects.


The program curriculum covers:

  •          Automotive service shop procedures
  •          Brake systems
  •          Basic car care techniques                                   
  •          Electrical and electronic systems
  •          Exhaust systems
  •         Gas engine and fuel systems
  •         Tire service
  •         Safety and environmental procedures
  •         Steering and suspension
  •         Tune-up
  •         Vehicle service and repair
  •         Competency in inspecting, diagnosing and repairing automobiles
