Skills Ontario Gold Medal Winners

 

James Cardinal McGuigan students win Gold at Skills Ontario for TV/Video Production.

Jay Jamorol and Francis Lamsen along with coaches Marco Summaria and Samantha DoRego won a gold medal for the TCDSB at Skills Ontario and will be progressing to the National competition in Halifax. They beat 23 teams from boards all over the province with a video on the theme of persuading parents/guardians that a career in the skilled trades and technologies is a viable career choice.

 

 

Skills Canada Winners

Congratulations to the TCDSB schools and students who represented the Board so well during this year’s Skills Canada 2019 provincial competition:
 
This year the TCDSB brought home 5 GOLD Medals, 2 SILVER Medals, and 2 BRONZE Medals, all in the following categories:
 
1)      GOLDRobotics Team - Michael Power/St. Joe’s
2)      GOLD  - Graphic Design - Mary Ward
3)      GOLDVideo Challenge team -  St. Joseph Morrow Park
4)      GOLDRefrigeration and Air  - Fraser Norfinch via Chaminade College
5)      GOLDTV and Video Production – Cardinal McGuigan
6)      SILVER Mechanical CADD – Bishop Allen Academy
7)      SILVERPrepared Speech – Bishop Allen Academy
8)      BRONZEAuto Service Technician – Jean Vanier
9)      BRONZEFashion Design – Blessed Cardinal Newman
 
*the Robotics team from Michael Power/St. Joseph was also awarded the Skills Canada Top Ranking Competitor Award for maintaining a perfect score throughout their competition. A tremendous accomplishment to say the least!
