Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School Students show off their Automotive Technology skills at the 19th Canadian International Auto Show held:  Wednesday, February 14th, 2018.

 

 
Automotive technology students from 20 high schools in the GTA and beyond competed in this highly contested/ high-octane automotive technology skills competition at the Canadian International Auto Show on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
 
The two-member student teams from each high school were given two hours to diagnose and repair new 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan TSI 2.0L rigged with identical operating problems by Centennial College's automotive technology professors and VW Master Technicians.
The two-member student teams shift between five workstations to test their analytical skills in electrical, steering, suspension and brakes, engine measurement and mechanical, and in a new challenge this year, competitors were tested on a highly realistic engine simulator provided by Electude.
 
This year, thanks to Janseh Mohan and Thanuraj Pathmanathan. Their relentless effort earned them third place. Jean Vanier automotive lab will also receive a donated vehicle from General Motors Canada for training purposes.
 
Last year, Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School finished second, thanks to the efforts of students Marc Balagot and Ashton Sawh.
 
Jean Vanier Automotive students have always performed extremely very well in this highly contested skills competition amongst the best. JV has always placed within the top three. Jean Vanier Automotive program have ranked top place three times to represent TCDSB, TADA and Canada at the National Automotive Technology Competition in New York City.
 
This is the 19th year Centennial College, the Trillium Automobile Dealers Association (TADA) and Volkswagen Canada and Toronto-area VW dealers have been running the competition at Toronto's International auto show. This is also Jean Vanier 19th year in this prestigious Automotive Skills Competition.
