Jean Vanier Wins Big at Auto Show
Many automotive fans as well as those shopping for a new vehicle know that February is always when the Autoshow rolls into Toronto. The Canadian International AUTOSHOW will be opening it's doors to the general public this weekend. What many people are not aware of is the activities leading up to the Autoshow taking place on "media day". For the past 18 years Centennial College along with the Trillium Automotive Dealers Association and other industry sponsors have conducted a Skills competition for high school students on the days leading up to the show.
On February the 15th, Jean Vanier's Ashton Sawh and Marc Balagot finished in Second place out of 20 high schools from the GTA and surrounding areas with teams from as far as Barrie and the Kawarthas. Both Ashton and Marc are grade 12 students and part of our OYAP and SHSM Transportation Program. Congratulations Boys!
A team from Jean Vanier has finished on the podium at this event for the last five years also earning a 1st place finish in 2014. In addition, what made this year even more memorable was that every year a teacher is recognized for their dedication and contribution to his or her students. Congratulations to Mr.Isaac Ozah for earning the Gerd Reisenecker Memorial Teacher of the Year Award, named for the former Centennial College professor and TADA member.
