Toronto Catholic District School Board

Mural Painting

As part of the continuing 25th anniversary school celebration, the Grade 8 students were involved in a mural painting project. This mural depicts elements of Josyf Cardinal Slipyj – our school patron-, the ethnicity of both the Ukrainian and Canadian cultures prevalent in our school community as well our Ukrainian Catholic Eastern Rite Heritage.

The mural painting was overseen by Sandra Tarantino - a professional artist who eagerly came to help  with this project even though she was very close to delivering her expectant child.

Once the mural project was completed – our man of many talents- principal Wasyl Zyla, solely painted over the whole mural with several coats of varnish on what must have been one of the hottest days in June.

Truly…a labour of love on all fronts.
