Anaphylaxis and Allergies

Peanuts 1.jpg

A number of students have severe peanut and nut allergies; in some cases these allergies are life-threatening.  As a result we ask that you please refrain from sending peanuts and other nut products to school.  Similarly, it is important that children do not have any nut products on the bus.  When sending in snacks, please make sure that they are nut-free.  Our teachers and support personnel have all been instructed on the anaphylaxis protocol.   Please see attached sheet regarding “Nut Free Snacks”.

Another issue that has come to our attention is the negative impact on people of chemicals found in a wide-range of common products and in various perfumes and scents.  Research has shown that these products can lead to physical problems which include increased incidence of asthma and concentration issues.  To read more information about the presence and impact of these products in your home you can access the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety at:

Thank you for your support in not sending nut products to the school for consumption; this assists us in keeping a safe environment for our students.
