Electronics and Cell Phones

Cell Phones 1.jpgElectronic communication devices are a vital part of our lives.   Many of our children carry their own devices and use them responsibly and appropriately.  However, while in the school yard and classroom setting, unless specifically used as an instructional device, electronic devices are a distraction from social interaction, a vital part of our school day. Furthermore, many are very expensive.  If a child brings their device to school, they will be asked to pass it to their teacher upon entering the classroom and it will be kept safe and returned at the end of the school day.   The school will not be responsible for lost, stolen or misplaced electronic devices not kept with the teachers.  Electronic devices are not to be kept in backpacks, desks or pockets.  These pose security threats in case of lockdowns and may be used in an invasive manner in washrooms.  In case of emergency, your child can be reached through the office and in an emergency, they can leave class to speak to a family member.
