As school re-opened in January 2014, our students continued to celebrate Ukrainian Christmas, which falls on January 7.  The entire school joined Mrs. Czyrnianski, our vocal music teacher, in singing traditional Ukrainian Christmas carols.  The intermediate string orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Hrab, accompanied the carollers.  In between carols, students - prepared by Mrs. Gafijczuk and Mrs. Lazirko of our Ukrainian department - recited Christmas greetings known as
“vinshuvannia”, adding to the authentic atmosphere of traditional carolling.

These Christmas songs, many of which are ancient and have been orally handed down through generations, connect us to the way our ancestors celebrated the Birth of Christ.
Christ is born! Glorify Him!
