  Mary Ward CSS Weekly Update:

For the week of Monday Sept.16th – Friday Sept.20th, 2019

Hello Parents & Guardians.  Below, please find our Mary Ward Weekly Update.  This was also sent out electronically through School Messenger.

Welcome to Week 3

Tip of the Week:

1. “Meet the Teacher Advisor” night takes place next Wednesday September 25th at 7 p.m.  Please be sure to attend this very important event at Mary Ward CSS.  You will meet your child’s TA and receive invaluable information.  Please make every effort to attend.  I look forward to meeting you.

2. Morning TA:  Students who come late to TA miss out on morning announcements.  Today for example there were 22 messages to join clubs, activities, upcoming trips, etc.  Students also miss out on the opportunity to work with their TA in planning their day for optimal success in self-directed learning at Mary Ward!!  All students are required to attend TA 3 times per day for attendance purposed in addition to their bi-weekly TA interview.  Please help support us by ensuring your child is on time and in uniform for school by 8:30 a.m. daily.

Reminders of the Week:

1. Unit 1 SUGGESTED target date is Monday September 16th.  In a self-directed learning school, students will progress at a pace necessary for their learning.  On September 16th, not everyone will be ready to hand in unit 1.  That is fine however, students should be prepared to hand the unit in within the next few days.  Our goal is that all students accomplish the first unit within the 8 scheduled days over the first two weeks of school.  We recommend that students attempt to stay within a few days or no greater than 1 or 2 units behind the recommended pace.  You will learn more about this at Meet the TA Night.

2. First Parent Council meeting:  Tuesday September 17th, 2019 at 7 p.m.  Mary Ward Library.  Elections will take place for the 2019-20 school year.  All are welcome and we look forward to meeting our newest parents and guardians.  We hope to see you there!

3.  Meet the TA Night – Wed. September 25th 7 p.m. in the Cafeteria.

4.  OASIS forms for grade 9 orientation day at Camp Robin Hood and/or grade 9 sleep over are due now IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO ALREADY.  Forms are collected every morning before school begins.  If there is a concern, please contact your TA or the Main Office.

5.  Grade 9 Student Council elections take place Friday September 20th.

6.  Night school and Saturday School registration is taking place now through the TCDSB.  This is mostly for senior students and is optional.  Interested students must go to the Guidance Department to pick up a flyer and complete registration.  You may also go online to see the flyer:    https://www.tcdsb.org/ProgramsServices/ContinuingEducation/Pages/Default.aspx
