Hello Parents & Guardians.  Below, please find our Mary Ward Weekly Update.  This was also sent out electronically through School Messenger.

Tip of the Week:

 

Our Math Department offers extra help through peer and teacher assistance every Monday- Thursday from 3 – 4 p.m. in the Math Department.  Please encourage your child to attend to receive additional assistance, to have help preparing for tests, to get help with their unit work.  Additionally, Mr. Bullock is available every Tuesday for assistance with MCR3U test preparation.

Our Guidance Department has a website available for students and parents/guardians.  Please be sure to visit regularly to view volunteer opportunities, scholarship information, and other important guidance information.  https://sites.google.com/tcdsb.ca/marywardguidance/home

 

Reminders of the Week:

  • This is Safe Schools week at Mary Ward.  This week, particularly, we are highlighting a number of reminders, concerns and responses for students so that all feel safe, welcome, and have a sense of belonging at Mary Ward.  Our Safe School Team have a number of activities planned for

  • The first provincial report card will be distributed to take home on MONDAY NOVEMBER 25th at the end of the day.  Please be sure to read the report card fully including mark, learning skills and NUMBER OF UNITS COMPLETED.  Please be sure to ask your child to see their report card on Friday night.

  • SAVE THE DATE:  Parent-Teacher interviews will take place Thursday December 5th, 2019 from 3 - 5; AND 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Mary Ward gymnasium.  Interviews take place on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be 5 minutes in length.  This is a great opportunity to speak to your child’s subject teachers.  If you require additional time with the subject teacher, you may request a meeting with the teacher at any other time.  Please bring your child’s report card and you are welcome to bring your child with you.

  

Monday November 18th – DAY 5 – Unit 5 Suggested Target Date

  • Excursion:  First Lego League Mentoring @ St. Robert.  Depart at noon and dismissed from site.  Students previously registered for this event.

  • Unit 5 Suggested Target Date

  • Sr. Boys Volleyball Semi Finals, @ CHAT – Dismissed 2 p.m. from Ward.  Dismissal from site after game.

 

Tuesday November 19th – DAY 6

  • Gr. 12 students of Ms. Holmes/Ms. Bozek – Assistive Technology in-service.  Library periods 4, 5.

  • Athletics:  Sr. Boys BB vs L’Amoreaux @ Ward 3:30 p.m. 

 

Wednesday November 20th – DAY 7

  • Canadian Senior & Intermediate Math Contests - Room 302 period 1

 Thursday November 21st – DAY 8; Extended TA B

  • Advent Project Assembly - Extended TA B

  • Athletics: Jr. Boys' BB vs. Crawford @ Ward. 3:30 p.m.

  • Athletics: Sr. Girls' B exhibition game @ McGivney.  Depart 2 p.m.

  • Hot Docs Environmental Film Screening for Gr. 9 Science and Gr. 9 Geography students who missed the Interdisciplinary Trip to Tommy Thompson Park. This is also open to Green Quest, Green Industries, Environmental Science and Biology students - sign up is at the Science Counter and must be done in advance.

 

Friday November 22nd – DAY 9

 

  • ‘Sextortion’ presentation to Gr. 9 & 10 by Toronto Police.  Period 1 in Cafeteria

  • HRT3M/NBE3U Aboriginal artist all day.  1-hour workshop.  Religion 229. 

  • Excursion:  Gr, 9, 10, 11, 12 Stratford Trip to see Billy Elliot.  Arrive at school 7 a.m.  Depart 7:30 a.m.  Return 7:30 p.m.  Students previously registered.

Excursion:  TCJ201 Trip @ Cummer Park-Community Centre Pool for cardboard boat water safety testing and evaluation.  Depart @ 12:00 p.m., dismissed from site.
