Kudos for last week:

  • The staff retreat was well-received by everyone. We greatly appreciate the efforts of JP Dabbaugh, Susanna Mak, and Mary Louise Ireland in organizing such an inspiring and yet relaxing day for us!
  • Thanks so much to the Social Committee for last week’s Meet and Greet Social!  If you haven’t already, get your social committee fee in ASAP!
  • Meet the TA night was a huge success with standing room only! Many parents commented on having a better understanding of the Mary Ward system and they also feel very comfortable with the TA of their child. Thanks to all staff who make this night possible! Special thanks go to those who came back from a tiring day of excursion, who completed a long day at school supporting students of colleagues who are out on trips, who ensure the night was set up with all the A/V, props, printed brochures, volunteers, labels, etc…, and great on-stage partners such as John Notten and Mike Carabine! Again, impressive work and parents appreciate your hard work and late night!
  • A special thanks to Lisa Weathers and Lisa Bailey for the lunch and learn for our new colleagues. The content was very helpful and timely. Your thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated.
  • You can tell that we are in full Mary Ward mode by the number and variety of trips that are taking teachers and students out of the school.  Thanks to teachers for organizing such great experiential education opportunities and to those of you who remain at the school helping support your colleagues.
  • Thanks also to colleagues who stepped forward to do Grade 8 visits! Your efforts help build our community and keep it strong in numbers!! We appreciate your efforts!
  • Finally, thanks to all TAs for preparing the students well for the Lockdown Drill! It was done efficiently! Thanks also to the shakers and movers who took their tasks seriously and really shook the doors hard and gave some of you quite a drill experience!

TA Tip(s) of the week

Spot Checks: What are they? When to use one. Spot checks are a great way to call your TA group together. They can be used for multiple reasons:  If you need to find a particular advisee, making sure advisees are following their daily plan, if you have something immediate you need to discus with your TA etc.  To call a spot check, call down to the office and give the secretaries your ta name, number and location of where you want to meet.
