Welcome to Week 19 (Jan 21-25)


This week we gear up for Winter Activity Day as we confirm registration and finalize some numbers. 


 Reminders for the week:

  •  Jan 23 is Mary Ward’s birthday. The intention of this week is really meant to take time to highlight our namesake Mary Ward and her incredible contributions.
  • Grade 9 Religion Exam – Please ensure your advisees are aware of the requirements and procedures for Jan 24, Thursday’s exam.  All Grade 9’s should report to Religion Period 1 to submit units and pick up exam authorization slips.  The exam will take place during periods 2 & 3 in the Cafeteria.  Religion will be closed all morning.  
  • Friday is an official Exam Day.  There may be a few groups of students in the building writing various tests.  Please look forward to Andrea’s e-mail on Jan 21 regarding staff attendance procedures for this day.
  • A reminder that the Mary Ward Birthday Celebration will take place on Wednesday January 23. Thanks again to S.A.C efforts, each TA will receive a package of cake mix and icing on Monday January 21.   Cake designs will once again be displayed and judged at lunch in the Cafeteria on Wednesday.

Monday, January 21 – Day 4

·       Department Heads' Meeting at 2pm in library conference room

·       Last day for Grade 9 students to hand in religion unit to complete course

·       Mgsr. Fraser Science Class usage of one Science Lab (20 students and 2 teachers) all day


Tuesday, January 22 – Day 5 - Extended TA “B” for WAD Collection

·       Parent Council Meeting – 7 p.m. in the Library

·       WAD collection

·       Three visitors to Mary Ward CSS from St. Thomas Christian School, St. Thomas, Ontario

·       Bullock and Titus unavailable, code 83

  • Principal meeting, Magee out all day  ​​


Wednesday, January 23 – Day 6 - Staff Meeting Schedule (early dismissal)

·       Math EQAO (Fast trackers), Rm 302, Period 1-3

·       Mary Ward Birthday Celebration – Cake display and judging at lunch in cafeteria

  • Burley out PM - Ontario Student Transcript ​​​Trillium in-service​​


Thursday, January 24 – Day C-5 - Extended TA “B” for WAD Collection

·       WAD Collection

·       Religion area closed AM

·       Final Grade 9 Religion Exams (Students will hand in Units during Period 1 and pick up exam authorization slips; Exam will be written during Periods 2 and 3 in the Caf – Please check with Steve if you need more details)

·       Gr.10 P.E. final assessment periods 1-2 / Gr.9 P.E. Kick Off periods 4/5

·       Grade 10 Religion Kick Off Period 4/5

·       Magee out all day

·       Stone Soup program beings, first session today at 3pm – Magee, Visconti, Gassi involved


Friday, January 25 – Exam Day

·       Magee out all day

·       Office conference room unavailable all day

  •  Thanks to the outstanding efforts of the EPIC team in planning for the PLC meeting last Friday! Fellow colleagues’ support and participation at the meeting have been a great encouragement on this EPIC journey together. So thank YOU as well!
  • Thanks to the WAD committee for their continued work on Winter Activity Day and a special thanks to those TA’s who are helping with activities and WAD collection in preparation for Feb 1st.
  • A special thanks for Nadia Lena and the SAC Team for all of their organizing and planning for the cake mixes for Mary Ward’s Birthday.  We can’t wait to see the creativity!
