Kudos:
·       This past week, the Mary Ward community and all visitors were treated to the many talents of our students at the annual Art Show Façade. Students outdid themselves in the grandeur of their creations, proving that there are no limitations to their creativity and intricacy in design. Thank you to everyone who supported this wonderful exhibition of Mary Ward talent. A special thank you goes out to our distinguished guests, Mr. Rory McGuckin, Mr. Dan Koenig, Mr. Kevin Malcolm, and Trustee Mike Del Grande for their continual support of our school community. Special shout outs to the legendary Notten for his tremendous leadership and inspiration, and everyone in the Visual Arts, Com-Tech, Construction and Manufacturing department for their tireless efforts in ensuring every facet of this Art Show was beyond belief.
·       Congratulations to our Badminton OFSAA team on a very impressive performance this past weekend in North Bay. Our mixed doubles made it into the semi-finals and our girls’ singles came away with an impressive bronze medal. Congratulations to coaches Mackay, Largo, Carabine, and Tbajanjian for helping our athletes achieve so many successes this past season!
·       Big thanks go to Kara, Maureen, Eileen, Dayana, and Sophia for putting together the informative display board, posters of note-worthy Asian Canadians, and display items relating to Asian Heritage this month! It was great to see the sense of pride we saw on students’ faces as they checked out items from their own heritage! In fact, some students also learned something they didn’t know about their own Asian Heritage before through checking the displays out! Through these displays we hope students of other cultural backgrounds will appreciate how we are all similar and how we are also different and that’s what made the world an interesting place with lots to explore and enjoy!
·       Thanks also to our chaplaincy team in coordinating with teachers who have arranged for students to make morning presentation/prayers in relation to the celebration of Asian Heritage Month! The students wrote meaningful scripts and presented them very well over the PA! A shout out to Su, Elona, Angela, JP, Maureen, and all those who have been helping out! We’ll keep listening on the PA as the celebration continue this month!
·       Congratulations to our very own Master Chef Antonella Ferrante for putting on a successful Chinese Spring Roll Cooking Class in celebration of Asian Heritage Month! More students showed up than anticipated and Antonella managed to accommodate them all! We look forward to the other three classes in this cooking series!
·       Congratulations to our graphic design students who participated in the Skills Canada competition and walked away with a gold medal. Way to go! Also, honourable mentions to the competitors from the Construction and Manufacturing department for their admirable representation.
·       Congratulations to those students who attended DECA. Special congratulations to D. Floreza for placing in the top ten in his category – an amazing achievement!!! Thank you to Ventura for accompanying these students and for supporting them during the competitions.

TA Tip(s) of the week
Please be sure to communicate clearly to parents/guardians by phone or email that their child will have to attend summer school or may fail a subject. Do this early where possible. Do not send this information on the last TA interview form for the first time.

Have a great week, everyone!
