The Michael Power/St. Joseph Medal of Achievement
The purpose of the MPSJ medal of achievement is to recognize and reward individual contributions to
the school community. It encourages students to become well rounded members of our community. The
medal is inclusive in nature as it acknowledges student involvement in many different areas of
extracurricular activity. The medal of achievement distinguishes a student’s high standard of
participation, excellent achievement and leadership in the school community.
Some guidelines about our medal system:
- To obtain a JUNIOR medal a student must accumulate 200 points in grades 9 and 10.
- To obtain a SENIOR medal a student must accumulate 200 points in grades 11 and 12.
- Points are accumulated for two years according to levels awarded below.
- Coaches, moderators and counselors will be responsible for awarding and validating points.
Their decisions are final. The integrity of the medal of achievement becomes a responsibility of
the community.
- Students are required to apply for the medal of achievement.

Completed applications are to be submitted to the Guidance
Department no later than May 28th, for students who intend to graduate and no later than June
14th for all other students
