Celebrating Our Student Nutrition Programs

Did you know?
Over 59,000 TCDSB students receive a healthy breakfast or morning meal through its Student Nutrition Programs (SNPs) every school day? Each program is unique and a reflection of its community. SNPs are operated in schools by volunteers and each program is universally offered to all students, serving 3 food groups, 5 days a week.

On Thursday, November 21st, Breakfast Television visited Michael Power/St. Joseph Catholic High School to shine a spotlight on their student nutrition program and to celebrate local partners and sponsors. The annual Toonies for Tummies campaign, organized by the Grocery Foundation, was kicked off at the event and raises funds for student nutrition programs.

TCDSB Trustee Markus de Domenico, along with members from The Angel Foundation for Learning, an official charity of TCDSB, and senior staff including: Director of Education Rory McGuckin, Superintendent Flora Cifelli, Superintendent Nick D’Avella, and Community Relations coordinator Manuela Sequeira were all on hand to both prepare the morning meal and serve it to the students as they arrived at the start of the school day.

The TCDSB is grateful to all partners and sponsors of local Student Nutrition Programs and thanks everyone who participated in the celebration.
