Letter to Parents September 10 2020

Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

We are looking forward to seeing our students back at Michael Power-St. Joseph H.S. next week. I am very happy to be working with a strong administrative team including Vice Principals Mr. Clough, Ms. Gilkinson and Mr. Malec. We are making plans to welcome your children after a long absence and are putting procedures in place to ensure the safety and well being of everyone in the building.

At this time, I am sure you are waiting for details about your child’s timetables, and when and where they should report for school. We are presently finalizing changes to the timetables to reflect the movement of students and teachers to the TCDSB Virtual School. Timetables will be emailed to you on the weekend. We will be providing a calendar so that students (and their parents) will know what days they are expected at school and when they are expected to be online with their teachers.

I will send a further communication tomorrow with details to help you prepare for next week.

This will include the many procedures that we have put in place for self-screening, mandatory mask wearing, entering and exiting the building, bathroom use, movement in the building and other important information you will want to have.

Please note that in order to ensure that students remain only in their small cohort, they will be admitted into the school at 8:15 am and will be dismissed at 11:00 am on the days they are at school. They will not be permitted to leave the building once they have entered, so they should have their snacks and water with them when they enter the building. In order to maintain compliance with mask wearing, to be consumed only at designated break time.

While the rules will be in place to ensure safety,  the MPSJ staff is also working together to ensure that we nurture the sense of belonging that comes from being a part of a Catholic school community. This is an important aspect of the high school experience and we want to ensure that we foster the enjoyment and Power pride within our student body.

As always, please feel free to contact us at MichaelPowerStJoseph.Info@tcdsb.org  with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Looking forward to seeing your children next week.
