Governor General Visits Monsignor Fraser College

The Toronto Catholic District School Board was privileged to host a visit by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada at one of its newest school facilities—Monsignor Fraser College Midland North. The new campus, which opened in the fall of 2014, was made possible through a generous donation by philanthropist Robert Harding, who extended an invitation to His Excellency to visit the school. The Governor General was welcomed by Principal Marcello Mancuso, former principal John Wujek, Superintendent Vincent Burzotta, Associate Director Gary Poole, Chair Mike Del Grande and lead teacher Sonia Ognibene-Villeneuve. Also on hand for the visit was  Susan McIsaac, President & CEO, United Way Toronto & York Region. The students were delighted with the visit and to hear from the Governor General about the importance of community service and acts of charity. They were also proud to talk to His Excellency bout their own experiences at the unique alternative education centre, and to share some of their recent artistic creations.
