A Green Vision for Monsignor Fraser College
Vision for Monsignor Fraser College’s Green Space is being proposed to support and extend project based and experiential learning at the school through programming in Green Technologies, Food and Nutrition, Design, Technology and Art.
Once implemented it will form a mutually beneficial relationship with the Community through collaboration in using and maintaining the green space.
How We Got Here
In 2014, the School Ground Greening Project at Msgr Fraser Annex Campus was undertaken as a small local greening project.
In 2015, an initial stakeholders meeting with the Councilor took place. The interest of cultivating the south field as a Community Hub & Educational Ground was expressed. With support from all participants at the meeting, the Board approved the hiring of a consultant to develop a feasibility study utilizing the original approved budget. A design charrette with all the stakeholders marked the end of 2015.
In 2016, two schematic design options were presented to the Councilor and the Stakeholders. A final schematic design along with a cost estimate was generated upon discussion with the stakeholders. Understanding the challenge of completing the entire project as a whole due to insufficient funding, phasing the project and a donor strategy was then developed. To date, a public meeting has been held with the local community to present the status of the project.
