Welcome to Mrs. Spagnolo's Grade 5/6 Class!
Welcome to the Grade 5/6 class at Monsignor John Corrigan. It will be a year of new challenges and exciting learning experiences.
Throughout the year, students will be actively involved integrating many aspects of the curriculum. For instance, the Early Civilization (Gr.5) and the Canada and Its Links to the World (Gr.6) units are connected with novels, computer programs and art projects to create a classroom immersed in the cultures and countries being studied. Science units link real life problems to the curriculum and encourage students to apply the knowledge they have learned to the world they live in. As a teacher, I am always looking for new opportunities to incorporate the arts and current events into the classroom so that each year students will be provided with unique experiences.
The Grade 5/6 class is not only a Christ-centered classroom but also a student-centered classroom. Therefore to ensure a successful year, it is important that we work together as a community in supporting our students to achieve their goals. It is essential that students within the middle grades develop good work habits. Students are required to take responsibility for their own learning by coming prepared to class with a willingness to work hard and actively participate. All work should always reflect the student’s best effort.
I look forward to the year ahead and all the exciting learning opportunities we will share as a Grade 5/6 class.
