W5H

For both Junior and Intermediate students, our school is very actively involved in a general knowledge competition with other schools. This activity is referred to as the W5H competition. Tryouts for these teams occur in early January for the Junior students (Gr. 4, 5, 6) and in February for Gr. 7&8 students. These competitions are fast-paced general knowledge challenges. Buzzer boards are used as students compete against other schools. The season for Junior W5H is January/February, while the season for Intermediate students is March/April.

Student Leadership Committee
This year, Nativity initiated a Student Leadership Program. Intermediate student leaders from grades 7 and 8 replaced the Student Council. As leaders, students:
• Help other students individually or in small groups
• Provide support in a variety of ways for the entire student population
• Improve the spirit and climate of the school for students and staff
• Engage in and gain a greater awareness of global and social justice causes
Becoming a student leader for Nativity of Our Lord is a great opportunity for the intermediate students to learn and lead. It gives them the opportunity to grow as humanitarians, be empathetic to what is happening globally and assist those in need. Students will gain a sense of responsibility, empowerment, self-esteem, and motivation.

Environmental Club
Our students are actively engaged in the Environmental Club throughout the year. The efforts and dedication of this club have assisted Nativity in maintaining Gold Certification for the last 5 years! The purpose of the Environmental Club is to help students, teachers, and members of our community learn about how important it is to take care of the Earth and our environment. Club members work on environmental projects, such as Earth Day, litter-less lunches, general recycling awareness and yard clean-up.
