Toronto Catholic District School Board

Extended French Programming

at Notre Dame High School

As part of the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s ongoing responsibility to offer dynamic educational opportunities across the City of Toronto, it created a draft Long Term Program Plan (LTPP). Aspects of the plan include opportunities for enhanced programming, including Extended French and French Immersion Programs.
The LTPP is a living document that is reviewed regularly by the Board.  To contribute to the flexibility that is built into the plan, community consultation takes place prior to change of programming that is suggested by the plan. Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School is one of the schools where the addition of Extended French programming is being considered for September 2020.  The model to be discussed is the gradual implementation of Extended French at the school beginning in the grade 9 program. The prerequisite for entry into the program will be the successful completion of a minimum of 2080 hours of Extended French or a minimum of 3800 hours of French Immersion in elementary school.

An evening of consultation regarding Extended French programming will take place:

Notre Dame High School, School Gymnasium

Tuesday, March 5th

6:30 p.m.

At the meeting, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about Extended French programming, participate in roundtable discussion and complete a survey. Your input and feedback is very important to us and essential to informing the Board’s program plans for the school.

The meeting will be attended by members of the Notre Dame school community, invited members of the greater community, staff from the TCDSB French Department, Trustee Kennedy, an administrator from another school that has recently implemented Extended French and other senior staff.
We thank you in advance for your participation and input and we look forward to meeting you in March.
