Our Lady of Lourdes Hosts
Provincial Announcement Regarding Nutrition Programs

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School welcomed a number of Provincial Ministers as well as Board officials for a special announcement regarding removing regulatory barriers that impede the work of food banks, soup kitchens and student nutrition programs. The proposed changes will ensure these organizations are preparing food safely while exempting them from requiring:
  • A set number of hand-washing stations;
  • A two or three compartment sink for cleaning utensils or a commercial mechanical dishwasher; and
  • At least one food handler or supervisor on site.
The Ontario government is seeking public and sector feedback on the proposed regulation changes until November 27.

On hand for the event were:

  • Hon. Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health
  • Hon. Todd Smith, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services
  • Hon. Prabmeet Sarkaria, Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction
  • TCDSB Director of Education Rory McGuckin
  • TCDSB Trustee for Ward 2 Markus de Domenico
  • Coordinator for Inclusion, Equity and Indigenous Education Manuela Sequeira
  • Executive Director of the Angel Foundation for Learning John Yan
  • Chief Executive Officer, Second Harvest Lori Nikkel
  • Our Lady of Lourdes Principal Kimberly Dixon
