As a member of the larger Catholic community, Our Lady of Peace School is rooted in the Catholic faith and doctrines. To this end it is committed to Catholic education incorporating the teachings of Jesus in recognizing the needs of all within its community.
Our Lady of Peace school strives to be a safe and welcoming environment for all the students. To this end policies have been established for the security and well-being of all. Programs such as peace education and conflict resolution are tied in with discipline code established last year. Parents, students and teachers all had input into devising the strategies used. This year “Say No to Bullying” was introduced. Continued efforts to utilize peer mediation in resolving conflicts will empower the students to develop their self-esteem and live in harmony with themselves and others.
The individual needs of the children are met through:
access to special education programs
access to enrichment/gifted programs
access to technology
access to vocal and instrumental music programs
access to computer literacy programs
In addition to the above, with the assistance of the School Advisory Council, every classroom will have access to design and technology materials.
In this complex and ever-changing world the ones who can adapt and change and continue learning are the ones who will face the challenges presented to them. To this end, we as a school community have to provide our students with the education that will best equip them for the future. As the demands shift and change so will the initiatives and programs offered at Our Lady of Peace School.
