Toronto Catholic District School Board

Admissions and Registration

New students are always welcome to our school community.

The Board makes every effort to accommodate students at the school of their choice. Placement will be offered based on the physical capacity of the school, local demand and program availability. Please be advised that living within a school boundary DOES NOT GUARANTEE PLACEMENT. When placement is not possible in the school requested, students will be offered a placement at the nearest TCDSB school with space and program availability. Transportation may be provided in accordance with our Transportation Policy and budget availability.

For general information about admissions and registration, including the new online application process, please visit the main board website.

For specific inquiries about our school, please call us any time.

Priority Admission Process for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School

At the Regular Meeting of the Board, on March 29, 2012, the following motion was moved by Trustee Davis, seconded by Trustee Kennedy:

A review is to be carried out by staff in 2015, when the school is expected to be at about 130% utilization, to determine whether the two priority optional attendance areas should be added to the primary attendance boundary.

“That priority admission to Our Lady of Perpetual Help be provided to students residing first in the approved Priority Optional Attendance Areas – Priority One area, followed by Priority Two area – subject to the availability to space (as determined by the Principal in consultation with Planning staff).”

That students residing in the Optional Attendance Areas applying for admission to Our Lady of Perpetual Help be placed on a wait list in priority to other students residing outside the approved Primary and Optional Attendance areas.

That on May 1st the admission of students whose names are on the wait list be determined by lottery.

That siblings of existing students be admitted on a priority basis.

Further information:

This “unique” boundary arrangement is exclusive to OLPH!

The intent of #5 is that the lottery be performed at the local level (Principal) and that the lottery method used be at the discretion of the Principal.  Something as simple as drawing names out of a small box or bag would be sufficient.

Where space permits, a grade-by-grade lottery is to be performed by the Principal on May 1st for all students on the wait list whose home address falls outside of the Board approved primary and optional attendance areas.  Names are randomly selected until each grade has reached maximum capacity.

Prior to a May 1st lottery for out-of-boundary students, priority admission is to be provided to wait listed students in the following sequence or until all available spaces are filled:
  • siblings, by date and time stamp
  • students on the wait list that reside within the Board approved primary boundary, by date and time stamp
  • students on the wait list that reside within the Board approved Optional Attendance Area 1 (north boundary), by date and time stamp
  • students on the wait list that reside within the Board approved Optional Attendance Area 2 (south boundary), by date and time stamp
  • students on the wait list that reside outside of the Board approved primary boundary or optional attendance areas (May 1st lottery)
