Toronto Catholic District School Board

A Mission to Spread Christmas Cheer at Centre Accueil D'Heritage

Today, the Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic School choir and the students from Mme. Thokoly's Grade 3 class brought joy into the hearts of the senior residents at Centre Accueil D'Heritage through song, conversation and sweets. Overseen by the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto, the Centre "provides services including housing for the sick, elderly and disabled of the Francophone community, adult day programs for frail seniors with physical and cognitive impairments, recreational and social activities."

The honesty, humility and warmth that the children came with as they interacted with this frequently forgotten segment of society, transformed into yet again a realization that bringing joy through music, humour and love is what this Advent season beckons!

A special thanks to Mme. Thokoly, Mlle. Belanger and Mlle. Caroline for leading and inspiring our students to be the best they can be and to give back to the community in a way they know best through a beautiful collections of songs (Cloche de Noel, Vive le vent, Minuits Chretiens and le P'tit Noel). Thank you to Mme. Thokoly for preparing the care packages of "bonbons" for our elderly Francophone community at Centre Accueil D'Heritage.

Our Lady of Wisdom CES Choir Performance and Guided Tour at Queen’s Park Legislature on December 3rd, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic School choir, under the direction of vocal music teacher, Ms. Belanger, performed “at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s Holiday Concert Program. As part of this “youth arts initiative, student choir performances are featured every day on the Grand Staircase of the Legislative Building at Queen’s Park during the month of December. Open to elementary and secondary schools, these 30 minute performances launch the holiday season and fill the hallways of the Legislature with joyful sounds.”

The students really enjoyed their performance experience,  and we commend them on this first encounter with Members of Provincial Parliament and Assembly personnel.
