Building Bridges - Grade 3 Science

The grade three's have been working hard at showing their understanding of strong and stable structures.  A structure is something that can hold a load, a structure also needs to be stable.  As part of the Science unit this past term the students were asked to construct a bridge which could hold a load.  Our goal was 10 math text books (all of which stood up to the test).  They were then asked to talk about the design of their bridge and demonstrate how the materials they used and the shapes they included in their bridges helped add to the structural stability.
